Roundtable in organization of UPES and Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities of Serbia: Policies and Practices in the Fight against Climate Change – examples of local authorities in the UK and opportunities in Serbia

The Roundtable in the organization of UPES and Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities of Serbia: Policies and Practices in the Fight against Climate Change – examples of local authorities in the UK and opportunities in Serbia, will be held on October, 7th 2021, online-starts at 12 pm.

Referring to key legal frameworks in the fight against climate change, this roundtable will discuss climate emergency declarations as well as low-carbon development action plans adopted by local authorities. Taking into account the available data on climate actions provided by local authorities in the UK, as well as the fact that the UK is the first country in the world to pass a law containing a legally binding national obligation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, an analysis of selected action plans will be presented in order to provide a better insight into what climate emergency declarations are as well as what are the key elements of local low-carbon development action plans. Planned speakers at the roundtable will be participants of the project on the mentioned topic, other international experts in the field, representatives of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, UPES members and others.
