The business association “Toplane Srbije”, with the support of the EBRD, SECO, USAID and the Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia, organized the 21st Professional and Scientific Conference on May 28 and 29, 2023, in Zlatibor. Traditionally, this Conference gathered a large number of representatives of heating plants from both the country and the region, as well as representatives of academia, donors and international institutions.

Two members of UPES Dr. Branislava Lepotić Kovačević and Biljana Grbić presented their works on the first day of the meeting. Branislava Lepotić Kovačević presented a paper entitled “What is cogeneration in the Republic of Serbia legislation”, pointing out that cogeneration plants are a very complex business and technological undertaking, but that it is about energy production in an energy efficient process, which achieves a reduction in the impact of energy on climate.

On behalf of the Secretariat of the Energy Community, Biljana Grbić presented on the topic “Development of district heating systems in the context of European regulations in the field of energy and climate”, emphasizing the necessity of decarbonizing the district heating system, as well as greater focus of heating plants on consumers.
